If you like potato dishes, you should definitely try to make a delicious national Lithuanian potato dish with meat, mushroom or mixed fillings. When preparing this carob, the main thing is to choose starchy potatoes and knead the right potato dough. And this is not always possible even for experienced housewives. In potatoes bought in different places, starch can be present in different quantities. But nothing of the kind, in this recipe I will tell you how to make carob and share all the secrets of their preparation. I really hope that everything will work out for you.

How to make

1. First, lets put a quarter of the potatoes in pots to cook. I had 12 potatoes of about the same size, I boil three of them until tender.

2. While the cooked potatoes are cooling, we wipe and grate the remaining potatoes with a potato grater.

3. Then we cover the colander with a linen towel, put the colander in a bowl and add the chopped potatoes. Squeeze the potatoes well, but not completely dry.

4. So much liquid escaped from my potatoes. Do not pour out the liquid! Let stand and the starch will settle at the bottom.

5. We transfer the squeezed potatoes to a bowl. to the potato mass immediately we add the onion grated on a potato grater. We mix.

6. Grate peeled boiled potatoes on a fine grater.

7. We put it in raw potatoes, we put settled starch there (very little of it settled for me and I still added 1.5 tablespoons of starch) and 2/3 teaspoon of salt.

8. We stir until smooth and get the dough from which we will make carob. Boil a small amount of water and throw a small ball of dough into boiling water. Boil for 3-4 minutes. If it falls apart, add a little more starch and cook the new ball again until the potato dough ball keeps shape.

9. We prepare the filling. Mix the minced meat, add chopped onion, pepper and two pinches of salt.

10. We put a large pot of water on the stove and start sculpting the carob. I sprinkle the board with starch, divide the dough into 8 parts. We take part of the dough, form a pancake. Put minced meat in the center.

11. Carefully close the edges of the cake, like a cake. And then, with a light press with the palm of our hand, we roll over the board, forming a beautiful airship of cepelins.

12. We distribute the finished carob on a board covered with cling film. In half a glass of water, add one and a half tablespoons of starch and mix.

13. Add salt to the pot with boiling water and pour the starch solution in a thin stream while stirring. Must be obtained as a liquid kisiel.

14. When it boils, lay out the carob. Cook for 20 minutes after boiling. Do not boil carob over very high heat!

15. In the meantime, lets make a sauce. Chop the bacon and onion.

16. Fry the bacon until gently browned, add the onion. Fry until the onion turns golden. salt to taste. At the end, cream or sour cream can be added, let it brew.

17. We carefully remove the boiled carob.
